Guatavita-See

Lerne die Legende von El Dorado kennen

Der Guatavita-See ist ein atemberaubender, kreisrunder Krater, gefüllt mit smaragdgrünem Wasser. Er ist berühmt für jahrhundertealte Schatzsuchen, aber auch aufgrund seiner kulturellen und ökologischen Bedeutung.

Über den Ursprung des Sees und seine ungewöhnliche kreisrunde Form gibt es unterschiedliche Ansichten. Manche halten ihn für einen Vulkankrater, andere glauben, er sei durch einen Meteoriteneinschlag entstanden. Sicher ist jedoch, dass der See einst ein wichtiger Zeremonienort der alten Muisca-Zivilisation war. Bei einem Ritual bedeckte sich der Häuptling des Muisca-Stammes mit Goldstaub und badete anschließend im See, während er Gold und Edelsteine als Opfergaben ins Wasser warf. Dieses Ritual gab der Legende von El Dorado ihren Ursprung.

Guatavita La Nueva

Genießen Sie eine wunderschöne Kolonialstadt

Diese kleine Stadt liegt nur 15 Minuten vom Guatavita-See entfernt. Sie heißt Guatavita La Nueva, da sie in den 1960er Jahren erbaut wurde, um die Bewohner des ursprünglichen Guatavita umzusiedeln, das während des Baus des Tomine-Stausees überflutet wurde (der Tomine-Stausee wurde errichtet, um Strom für die nahegelegenen Ortschaften zu erzeugen und die Wasserversorgung von Bogotá zu verbessern).

Die „Neue Guatavita“ wurde als perfekte Nachbildung einer spanischen Kolonialstadt errichtet, mit Häusern mit weißen Fassaden, rustikalen Stuckfassaden, traditionellen Dächern aus Tonziegeln und einfachen Holztüren und -fenstern.

Salzkathedrale von Zipaquirá

Die kleine Stadt Zipaquirá ist berühmt für ihre Salzminen und für die Salzkathedrale, die heute innerhalb des Netzes monumentaler Kammern und Tunnel errichtet wurde, die nach dem Ende des kommerziellen Abbaus zurückblieben.

Diese Kathedrale ist architektonisch einzigartig auf der Welt. Sie wurde 1995 eröffnet und vereint auf einzigartige Weise Religion und Architektur, um den Schutz vor den allgegenwärtigen Gefahren der Bergwerksarbeit zu maximieren. Der begehbare Kreuzweg im Bergwerk stellt Jesu letzte Schritte eindrücklich dar und mündet in eine dreiteilige, höhlenartige unterirdische Kathedrale.

Wir beginnen diese Tagestour ab Bogotá mit einem Besuch des Guatavita-Sees. Der friedliche See, etwa zwei Autostunden von Bogotá entfernt, hat die Form eines perfekten Kreises und ist Schauplatz einer jahrhundertealten Schatzsuche. Am See wandern Sie zum Kraterrand hinauf, von wo aus Sie die weite Landschaft der Bogotá-Savanne überblicken und in die mystische Atmosphäre des Sees eintauchen können. Nachdem wir mehr über die Muisca-Rituale und die Legende von El Dorado erfahren haben, fahren wir weiter nach Guatavita La Nueva.

Guatavita La Nueva liegt nur 15 Minuten vom See entfernt. Bei unserem Besuch erfahren wir mehr über die Geschichte, Legenden und Mythen des Ortes. Anschließend haben Sie Zeit, die malerischen Kopfsteinpflastergassen zu erkunden, bevor es weiter zur Salzkathedrale von Zipaquirá geht.

Wir verbringen etwa 1,5 bis 2 Stunden in der Salzkathedrale. Während unseres Besuchs führt Sie ein erfahrener Guide durch den Kreuzweg. An jeder Station sehen Sie eine symbolische Darstellung von Ereignissen auf Jesu letztem Weg vor seiner Kreuzigung. Am Ende dieses Rundgangs erreichen wir die Hauptkuppel und die drei Schiffe der Kathedrale, die durch einen gewaltigen Riss miteinander verbunden sind. Dieser Riss symbolisiert die Geburt und den Tod Christi. Auf dieser Tagestour erfahren Sie mehr über die kolumbianische Kultur, Religion und Architektur. Nach dem Besuch der Kathedrale fahren wir zurück nach Bogotá und bringen Sie zu Ihrem Hotel.

Blown Away

I'll write 2 reviews. First the quick one; every detail was taken care of, the destinations are world class, communication was excellent. I would give them 6 out of 5 if I could.

The guide UC booked for us was exceptional. He knew his stuff, was very good with e-bird, he was an intersting guy and an overall good bean. Our tour actually started in Barranquilla - we were met at the airport, taken to the finest hotel in town. The next day we were taken on a city tour. I didn't know much about the city so I was very pleasantly by how much I liked it. The carnival museum is fabulous, we really enjoyed the boardwalk around a lagoon.

Tour of Medellin and local villages.

Sol, our tour guide, was amazing. We did a three day tour of Medellin and local villages nearby. Sol shared her vast knowledge of the political and social recent history of the region. She led the tour at our pace. She was lovely to be with. The driver was very cautious. It was a great experience.

Great to work with!

Uncover Colombia was fantastic to work with! We had a 12 day itinerary and everything went very well. Great tour of Salt Cathedral

Myself and my wife did a private tour with Juan Carlos to the Salt Cathedral. The tour and Juan Carlos were both great. He had an intimate knowledge of the Salt Cathedral having worked there previously, and also knew a lot about the nearby town and local area.
