Departure Time: 8 am
We will pick you up in the morning from your hotel and take you to La Boquilla, a traditional Afro-Colombian fishing village located just 7 km north of Cartagena. Nestled between the Caribbean Sea and the Ciénaga de Tesca, La Boquilla sits on the northern tip of a narrow peninsula, rich in culture, history, and natural beauty.
Once there, you’ll board a wooden canoe for a tranquil ride through the mangrove forest of the Ciénaga de Tesca. As you glide through the peaceful waters, you’ll spot native and migratory birds and discover the unique flora and fauna that thrive in this ecosystem. Along the way, local fishermen will introduce you to traditional fishing techniques and the skills passed down through generations.
After the canoe tour, you’ll join a lively drumming workshop that brings the cultural heartbeat of La Boquilla to life. Through rhythm and music, you’ll explore the deep Afro-Caribbean roots of the community. It’s also a special opportunity to connect with locals, glimpse their daily lives, and hear stories that reflect generations of tradition and resilience.
Then, enjoy a delicious snack and a handcrafted cocktail by the beach. This moment sets the perfect mood for the grand finale: a magical bullerengue circle, a vibrant dance celebrating life, connection, and the spiritual power of the drum, a symbol of joy, unity, and ancestral energy.
At the end of the experience, we’ll drive you back to your hotel in Cartagena, leaving you with a deeper understanding of La Boquilla’s natural and cultural legacy.
