Early in the morning, We embark on a journey towards to the renowned Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral. This impressive underground structure is entirely carved from salt, offering a blend of art, culture, and history that creates a truly unique and unforgettable experience. Afterwards, we'll return to Bogotá.
We continue our journey to Neusa Reservoir, a scenic drive of approximately 1 hour from Zipaquirá. Upon arrival, we’ll begin with a visit to a nearby organic garden and farm, where we’ll learn about the cultivation of local ingredients that are essential to traditional Colombian cuisine.
Next, we’ll take part in a Colombian-style cooking class focused on traditional meat preparation techniques. Guided by a local cook, you'll discover how to marinate and cook meat using regional methods and fresh, locally sourced ingredients. One of the highlights is the preparation of “lomo al trapo” literally translated as “beef tenderloin in a towel,” it’s made by wrapping a big chunk of beef tenderloin in a thick crust of salt swaddled in a towel, then cooking it over open flames, a rustic and flavourful Colombian tradition. The experience culminates in a delicious open-air lunch enjoyed with panoramic views of the reservoir.
After lunch, we’ll immerse ourselves in the peaceful natural surroundings with a little guided hike led by a local expert. The trail will take us through serene landscapes and offering breathtaking views of the lake and forest. Following this moment of connection with nature, we'll return to Bogotá. This itinerary is thoughtfully designed to offer a perfect fusion of nature, culture, and gastronomy, providing travellers with an enriching and unforgettable experience near Bogotá.
