In the morning, your local guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to Comuna 13, which is located in the western part of the “City of Eternal Spring” and overlooks the rest of Medellin. Your guide will provide context to the area and explain why Comuna 13 is so unique. You will get to ride a few of the of the escalators that were installed around 2012 so the area’s 3,000+ residents could have an easier time moving around the neighbourhood. Once you begin walking around the steep Comuna 13, you’ll understand how these elevators really improved the quality of life for residents.

Along with facts about the past and plans for the future, your guide will tell you about the beautifully intricate graffiti adorning the walls and buildings in Comuna 13.
