We will begin the day tour by heading to a small town called Tibacuy, located about 2 hours outside of Bogota, it may take up 3 hours as there are some works on the road at the moment. Tibacuy is a small town located in the department of Cundinamarca. It is surrounded by the spectacular Andean mountains that provide a perfect climate for cultivating coffee, fruits, and other agricultural products.
On the way to Tibacuy, we will stop to enjoy a delicious traditional Colombian breakfast. Upon arrival in Tibacuy, we will go to a community of various farms that work together to produce coffee. We will visit each farm to meet the family running the farm and learn one step about the coffee cultivation process.
At the first farm, we will learn about the indigenous community that inhabited this area and the cultivation process. We will learn how to plant coffee trees, interact with the farmers and eat delicious snacks.A 20-minute hike will take you to the next farm, where we will show you the coffee pulping and drying process.
Afterwards, we will eat a traditional Colombian lunch. At the next farm, you will learn how to select the best coffee beans (an important step in the cultivation process) and drink a delicious cup of coffee. The last coffee farm on the tour features an old colonial house where you will get to know more of Colombia’s traditions and cultures. At the end of this incredible experience around the community of Tibacuy, we will go back to Bogota.
