Colombia is famous for its coffee, so what better place to learn everything there is to know about coffee than Colombia!
During this tour, you will see each step of the coffee cultivation process—from understanding how to identify ripe coffee cherries and harvesting them to pulping, drying, and brewing the beans. Last but not least, you will get to taste the coffee after roasting the beans the old-fashioned way.
This tour is centred around coffee, but you will also get the chance to learn about the indigenous Panche people who inhabited the area outside of Bogota. About 30,000 Panche lived in what are now the departments of Cundinamarca and Tolima around the time of the Spanish conquest. They were strong warriors and often fought with a neighbouring group called the Muisca.
The Panches had a rich spiritual life, worshipping nature and ancestral spirits. Although much of their culture was suppressed during colonization, their legacy persists in the region's traditions, oral histories, and archaeological sites. Your tour guide will explain more about Colombia’s indigenous tribes and how they fit into today’s society.
The community of Tibacuy is a close-knit and vibrant community united by its cultural traditions and agricultural practices. Most residents are involved in farming and cultivating coffee, fruits, and flowers, which form the source of the local economy.
During this day tour from Bogota, you will interact with hardworking coffee farmers who have been cultivating this product for generations. Spend time talking and learning from these locals who are passionate about their trade and can’t wait to teach you everything they know about coffee.
This experience is not only about coffee, it also highlights the local traditions and culture. During the day tour, you will have the opportunity to taste some delicious local snacks, such as: Arepas and cakes made of "chachafruto” or “balu,” a type of bean found only in America that has been a very traditional and popular food in this area of Colombia.

We will begin the day tour by heading to a small town called Tibacuy, located about 2 hours outside of Bogota, it may take up 3 hours as there are some works on the road at the moment. Tibacuy is a small town located in the department of Cundinamarca. It is surrounded by the spectacular Andean mountains that provide a perfect climate for cultivating coffee, fruits, and other agricultural products.
On the way to Tibacuy, we will stop to enjoy a delicious traditional Colombian breakfast. Upon arrival in Tibacuy, we will go to a community of various farms that work together to produce coffee. We will visit each farm to meet the family running the farm and learn one step about the coffee cultivation process.
At the first farm, we will learn about the indigenous community that inhabited this area and the cultivation process. We will learn how to plant coffee trees, interact with the farmers and eat delicious snacks.A 20-minute hike will take you to the next farm, where we will show you the coffee pulping and drying process.
Afterwards, we will eat a traditional Colombian lunch. At the next farm, you will learn how to select the best coffee beans (an important step in the cultivation process) and drink a delicious cup of coffee. The last coffee farm on the tour features an old colonial house where you will get to know more of Colombia’s traditions and cultures. At the end of this incredible experience around the community of Tibacuy, we will go back to Bogota.
