This museum is dedicated to Fernando Botero, Colombia’s most famous painter and sculptor, known worldwide for his signature style of exaggerated, voluminous figures that explore political, social, and cultural themes with irony and humour. The museum was created after Botero generously donated his personal collection of artwork to Bogotá in 2004, making it one of the city’s most important cultural spaces.

In addition to Botero’s own iconic works, the museum features pieces by renowned artists such as Picasso, Chagall, Renoir, Monet, and Pissarro, offering a remarkable blend of Colombian and international art.

On display at the Gold Museum is the largest collection of gold pieces as well as other artefacts from the pre-Hispanic societies who live in the land today known as Colombia. The gold collection started with one single piece, the Poporo Quimbaya. Today, more than 55,000 pieces are in the exhibition.

One of the highlights of the museum is the famous Muisca Raft, which depicts the ancient El Dorado ceremony, along with intricate jewelry and ceremonial objects. The museum provides a deep insight into the spiritual and cultural significance of gold in pre-Hispanic societies.

Colombia's national ancestral sport, Tejo, holds a special place in the hearts of its people, even amidst the widespread passion for soccer. This ancient game, rooted in indigenous traditions, involves players throwing metal discs called tejos at clay targets filled with gunpowder. The objective is to hit the targets, causing them to explode, which combines precision, strategy, and lively competition. 

After the game, players can enjoy Chicha, a traditional fermented drink made from maize that has been enjoyed in Colombia for centuries. This flavorful beverage adds a cultural touch to the Tejo experience, offering a true taste of Colombia’s heritage.

Just an hour from Bogotá, Choachí is a picturesque town nestled in the lush foothills of the Andes, with altitudes ranging from 1,900 to over 3,200 meters. You will also participate in a hands-on gastronomic activity led by local women, who will guide you in preparing amasijos, traditional baked pastries made from corn, cheese, and ancestral recipes. This journey provides an authentic connection to community life, where coffee, food, and cultural pride come together in the heart of the Colombian Andes.

During this experience, you'll spend the day with different communities in the town of Choachí, taking part in meaningful activities mostly led by rural women who work tirelessly to move forward while preserving their traditions.

You'll get an authentic look into their way of life, learning about their ancestral knowledge, local cuisine, and deep connection to the land. These women's warmth and hospitality create a welcoming space where stories, customs, and wisdom are proudly shared.

You’ll also learn about their efforts to protect their cultural and natural heritage in the face of modern-day challenges, forming a deep and personal connection with this living legacy.
