Start your city tour of Bogotá with an authentic visit to Paloquemao Market, one of the city’s most colourful and lively places. As you walk through its bustling aisles, you’ll be surrounded by the rich aromas of tropical fruits, freshly ground coffee, herbs, and flowers. Here, you’ll experience the daily rhythm of Bogotá life, meeting local vendors, learning about traditional ingredients, and even sampling freshly made fruit juices. It’s the perfect introduction to the city’s vibrant culture and culinary heritage.
After exploring the market, we’ll continue our journey through Bogotá’s most iconic landmarks. Our next stop is Cerro de Monserrate, the city’s most famous viewpoint. We’ll take the cable car or funicular railway up the mountain to visit the historic church at the summit and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Bogotá nestled among the Andes.
From there, we’ll head to the Gold Museum, home to the world’s largest collection of pre-Hispanic gold artefacts, a fascinating insight into Colombia’s indigenous cultures and their craftsmanship. We’ll also visit the Museo Botero, where you can admire the works of Fernando Botero, Colombia’s most celebrated artist, known for his distinctive style and playful approach to form.
Our Bogotá city tour continues through La Candelaria, the city’s charming colonial district. We’ll wander its cobbled streets, explore historic plazas like Plaza Bolívar and Chorro de Quevedo, and admire the blend of Spanish, Baroque, and Republican architecture that tells the story of Bogotá’s evolution. Along the way, you’ll hear captivating stories about colonial life, independence, and indigenous traditions that shaped Colombia’s capital.
Around midday, we’ll enjoy a traditional Colombian lunch at a local restaurant, the perfect opportunity to savour authentic flavours and reflect on the cultural treasures discovered during your city tour of Bogotá.
